Is Poetry Making a Comeback? (Or Did It Never Really Leave)

While taking a course at VCC on delivering instruction, a classmate and I teamed up  on a poetry mini-lesson.  I was surprised by the positive reception our lesson received.

Upon reflection, I think that more than ever our society is 'ready' for poetry.

Shorter poems lend themselves to twitter and to texts and are easy to take in and reflect upon in today's fast paced world.

Also, song and rap lyrics are often poetic in nature and flow with the beat of the music they are accompanying.

Poetry is typically a language of emotion, eliciting strong emotions and feelings.
